      Welcome back! It’s time.

      Works for me!

Rough draft of the edited episode now available:

New contributors, how would you like to be credited?

Oh, for the captain’s recordings, it’s Boxing towards the top of the episode (if it gets included at all) and Moustraps towards the bottom (around the same time as the last Andrews briefing, if we use that, and the third Hatfield report.)

I’m uploading the captain’s logs now. I *think* that’s everything to round out this episode, and I’ll start editing it Saturday, with plans to release it by Tuesday.

The only plot we actually resolve is the kind of self contained Moustrap arc, but I think it’s funny and I’m glad to play with it.

We planted some seeds for the next episode around Time Holes and Leaking Time and also around the crew of the generation ship being really fascinated (almost reverent) of Trilo Bite.

I’ll tie off a lot of the Generation Ship stuff with the official mission log for the next episode, but there will be plenty of room for us to continue to play with that story if there’s more to say there, and also for us to introduce something new.

I like the idea of the Mouse or Mice being a constant concern for a few episodes (maybe longer!) but I think it’s time for us to explore elsewhere for an episode or two.

So, big developments for episode three:

      1) They are clones, but they are clones of the crew of the Jupiter’s ghost. Due to a misshap with their Time Drive, which will have been soon to be already damaged by their encounter with us, a genetic profile of the crew of the Jupiter’s Ghost overwrites their original templates in the past. Trilo is responsible for this, probably. We’re still working out the details.

      2) At the top of the episode, we’re docked and we’re waiting on a transport ship to come and pick up the generation ship and its crew and transport them all to a solar federation space outpost. They’re due in roughly 4 hours, but a big Cosmic storm is also heading our direction and has blown out our already struggling comms system. The storm hits, and we have Other Malfunctions.

      3) There are RUMORS on the ship about why the captain had Andrews lock Doc Muscles in a supply closet. I suspect these rumors mostly come from Lady Moonbeam, but I could be wrong.

      4) We’ll close the episode with the comms system restored, having received our next mission (details to come.)

Let’s start brainstorming other developments for this episode and the next episode.

I’ll get that mission briefing recorded and start a new forum thread tomorrow.

In the meantime, if you have a chance to listen to the Captain’s recordings, please do let me know what you think.

Matrix, for the uninitiated, is like an open source and federated discord clone.

It’s “secure” but vulnerable to some well publicized attacks, so don’t treat it like a secure channel.

It’s free, there are lots of clients. I use Element on mobile.

We do a little organizing in there, and it’s just another place to riff with collaborators. The forum is the primary method of communication, Matrix is not required, and is considered secondary.

      Thanks!

For everyone here, Taros added a link to our Matrix room in another forum thread. If you’re interested in joining, be my guest. If you want a matrix server, I have one of those too. (It’s @talk.newellijay.tv I think.)

In the meantime, I’ve styled the forum up a bit. I’m still not 100% happy with it, but it should at least be usable. IF you notice anything that is Very Bad please let me know.

Got three new logs from Doc Muscles that make up a several day arc.

Also, I believe Lady Moonbeam asked about how to find the link to share in the forum.

Like most of the things we do here, it’s kind of funky! There are a few ways to do it:

      1) shoot me an email or a message here or a DM on mastodon and ask for a nextcloud account. I’ll make you an account, and then you can share links that way (that’s what I did for the first few links I shared.)

      2) click the item to play it, then right click on the download button and choose “copy link” (This is, as they say in the business, Janky.)

      3) Just tell us that you uploaded it, everyone should have access to the folder.

If you you have a better suggestion for how we can manage this in the future, please let me know! This was a big sticking point the first time we tried to do this, and Nextcloud is the best imperfect solution I have so far.

Part One of the MOUSE! storyline is now available: https://intergalactic.computer/social/podcast/jupiters-ghost-episode-01-generation-mice/

I think it gives you a good idea of the structure of the show.

Aside from James Andrews log at the beginning nothing was planned. Each member contributed their logs and their additions to the plot organically.

When you record a mission log, please share it here: https://admin.newellijay.tv/nextcloud/s/E793fPZCbsEbMxq and then make a forum post with a link to it.

(Please let me know if this doesn’t work, we’re still trying to get the kinks worked out.)

Episode two will pick up where episode one left off, and will resolve the Generation Ship, and Mouse plotlines, as well as doing more with the newly introduced Boxing plot.

Have fun with it, but remember rule #1.

After an absolutely nutty two years, I’m finally overhauling the website and getting ready to solicit contributions again.

This is just a post to let folks know that not only are things moving now, but they’re probably moving faster.

Kaj, yours is perfect too. I dig it.

    • #222

Dan, yours is great as written. Reading the rest.

Nyx, we had not planned a wiki, mostly because I don’t personally have the energy to keep one up.

I’m not opposed to hosting one if the community wants to maintain it.

Taros, I’ll take a listen in the morning. Thanks!
